Using the GPS Insight Route Optimizer Beta Workbook Interface

Use the GPS Insight Route Optimizer Beta Workbook Interface to enter your stop location data, vehicle information, configure settings, set attributes (if applicable), and view your profit and results data. The Workbook Interface is interactive and mirrors the functionality and appearance of an .xlsx workbook.

Primary Features

The following features are available:

Number Feature Description
1 Locations Enter stop location information in this tab, such as: name, address, time window start, time window end, job profit, job attributes, and more.
2 Vehicles Enter vehicle information in this tab, such as: name, miles per gallon, start location name, end location name, attributes, and more.
3 Settings Enter settings information in this tab, such as: route start time, gas price, and timezone.
4 Attributes Enter applicable details such as special equipment, driver ability, etc., important to the route.
5 Profit View cumulative totals for the route, including profit, miles driven, driver cost, and more.
6 Results Summary overview of the optimized route.
7 Add Rows Click Add Rows to add fillable rows below the last row in the current tab table.

Completing the GPS Insight Route Optimizer Beta Workbook

You may enter your data in the Workbook Interface from the GPS Insight Route Optimizer Beta in a browser window or you may import a completed Workbook Interface Spreadsheet (see Using the GPS Insight Route Optimizer Beta Menu for import instructions) from your desktop.

Completing the Workbook Manually

How to Manually Complete the Workbook:

  1. In the Locations Tab, enter your stop location data in the Locations Tab. Refer to Completing the Workbook Interface Locations Tab for instructions.

    You must enter at least three (minimum) stop locations in the Locations Tab.

  2. Click on the Vehicles Tab, and enter your vehicle data. Refer to Completing the Workbook Interface Vehicles Tab for instructions.

    You must enter at least one vehicle in the Vehicles Tab.

  3. Click on the Settings Tab, and enter your settings. Refer to Completing the Workbook Interface Settings Tab for instructions.

    You must enter an estimated gas price in the Settings tab.

  4. Click on the Attributes Tab, and enter any attributes (e.g., special equipment, driver abilities, etc.), required for stop locations and/or vehicles entered in the Locations Tab and/or Vehicles Tab. Refer to Completing the Workbook Interface Attributes Tab for instructions.

    Attributes must be separated by commas (e.g., Ladder, Tom). Only use this field if specialized attributes are required.

  5. You have completed the Workbook.

Importing the Workbook

To use the import option, you are required to download, edit, and save the Workbook Interface Spreadsheet Template provided in the GPS Insight Route Optimizer Beta Menu.
